White Oak

Availability: Available for pickup at our Broussard garden center.

White oak is a large native shade tree. The canopy is broad, the bark is pale and scaly with age, and the leaves turn wine to russet in fall. Acorns come once the tree is mature. This is a yard tree with room to grow, not a patio plant.

Give it full sun and soil that drains. White oak does not want a wet hole. Water it through the first two summers. Growth is steady, not fast.

🌎 Zones: 3–9.
☀️ Sunlight: Full sun.
💧 Soil & Care: Plant in well-drained soil. Water during dry stretches the first two years. Do not plant it where water stands.
🌳 Size: Large shade tree. Acorns in fall. Wine to russet fall color.
