Pyrus communis 'Pineapple' is a French heirloom pear variety prized for its distinctive tropical flavor profile. This vigorous tree reaches 15–20 feet at maturity and thrives in full sun across USDA zones 5–9. The medium to large fruits develop a yellow-green complexion with subtle red undertones, ripening from late summer through early fall. Its sweet, juicy flesh delivers an intriguing pineapple-forward taste that sets it apart from conventional pear varieties. The cultivar requires approximately 1,000 chill hours below 45°F and benefits from cross-pollination with compatible European pear cultivars to maximize fruit production. Moderate fire blight resistance makes it a relatively low-maintenance addition to established orchards and home gardens.
