Chinese Fringe Tree

Availability: Available for pickup at our Broussard garden center.

The Chinese Fringe Tree (Chionanthus retusus) is a refined deciduous specimen prized for its spectacular late spring blooms. Hardy in zones 5-9, this small tree reaches 12-20 feet tall with a naturally rounded form and glossy dark green foliage that transitions to golden yellow in autumn. The hallmark feature is its profusion of delicate, white fringe-like flower clusters that create an ethereal, cloud-like canopy effect while attracting pollinators and wildlife. Adaptable to full sun or partial shade, it performs well in moist, well-drained soil and tolerates various soil conditions with moderate water needs once established. This low-maintenance tree excels as a focal point in smaller landscapes and urban gardens, offering both ornamental beauty and ecological value with minimal ongoing care requirements.
