Fuyu Persimmon

Availability: Available for pickup at our Broussard garden center.

Fuyu is a non-astringent persimmon. The fruit is squat, like a tomato, and you can eat it while it is still firm. It does not have to turn to pudding first. Skin turns orange in fall. A young tree needs sun and drainage. Protect it in a hard freeze until it is established.

Give it full sun. Water the first two summers. Fruit comes late in the season once the tree is old enough to bear.

💧 Soil & Care: Plant in well-drained soil. Water during dry stretches the first two years. Do not plant it in a wet hole.
🍊 Fruit: Orange, squat persimmons. Non-astringent. Eat firm or soft.
