Slender Silhouette Sweet Gum

Availability: Available for pickup at our Broussard garden center.

The Slender Silhouette Sweet Gum is a columnar cultivar of Liquidambar styraciflua, bred for narrow, upright growth that fits seamlessly into tight spaces and contemporary landscapes. This compact tree maintains the classic sweet gum character—brilliant fall color ranging from crimson to purple and gold—while occupying a fraction of the space of standard varieties. Ideal for urban gardens, street plantings, and screening applications where vertical emphasis is desired. The refined branching structure and dense foliage create a striking silhouette year-round.

Hardy and adaptable to a range of soil conditions, it tolerates both wet and dry sites once established.

Mature height typically reaches 40–50 feet with a spread of just 8–12 feet, making it an excellent choice for homeowners and landscapers seeking ornamental presence without sprawl. Minimal pruning required once established.
