Availability: Available for pickup at our Broussard garden center.
Sweetie Pie is a thornless blackberry from the USDA program in south Mississippi. It was selected for Gulf Coast heat and for resistance to rosette (double blossom), which wrecks a lot of blackberries here. The berries are glossy and sweet. They ripen mid to late season. Canes are erect enough to manage on a simple trellis. Fruit can be a little soft, so pick often and eat fresh.
Give it full sun and soil that drains. Water the first year. Fruit comes on last year’s canes, so do not cut everything to the ground in winter.
🌎 Zones: 6–9.
☀️ Sunlight: Full sun.
💧 Soil & Care: Plant in well-drained soil. Water during dry stretches the first year. Trellis the canes.
🫐 Fruit: Thornless. Sweet, glossy black berries. Mid to late season.
